
Carlo Matteucci Elected NYSOSIA State President!

At the 99th Annual State Convention of the New York Grand Lodge, Carlo Matteucci of the John A. Prudenti Lodge No. 2442, Bluepoint, New York was elected by acclamation as the 27th State President of the New York Grand Lodge, Order Sons of Italy in America. He and his wife, First Lady Madeline Matteucci held a wonderful champagne celebration on Saturday evening, June 11th to celebrate the event. They, along with the other newly elected members of the Executive Board greeted each of the over 500 delegates that attended this convention at the Nevele Grande Resort & Country Club from June 9th through June 12th.
Also elected this weekend were: State First Vice President, Nancy DiFiore Quinn; State Second Vice President, Salvatore Lanzilotta; State Immediate Past President, Joseph J. DiTrapani; State Orator, Thomas Lupo; State Recording Secretary, Joseph D'Amico; State Financial Secretary, Carolyn Reres; State Corresponding Secretary, Carmine Federico and State Treasurer, Bruce Lankewish. President Matteucci appointed Nicholas Mauro to serve as the State Principal Trustee and Santina Haemmerle to serve as the New York State Deputy.
During this convention weekend, Immediate Past President Joseph J. DiTrapani and Former First Lady Carol DiTrapani were lauded many times for all the fine work accomplished during the past four years of his administration.
NYSOSIA was fortunate to have Attorney General Eliot Spitzer, State Senator Caesar Trunzo and Assemblyman Thomas DiNapoli in attendance during the convention.
On Saturday morning, June 11th, a very impressive scholarship program took place awarding 113 scholarships and 4 special grants totaling over $68,000 in financial aid to these most deserving students. On Saturday afternoon the convention delegates donated over $24,000 to the Cooley's Anemia Foundation and another $50,000 to other charities near and dear to the hearts of the Brothers and Sisters of the New York Grand Lodge.
